Such a bit, similar to drywall bits that stop driving when the screw is just below surface level, would be very useful when hanging items with keyhole slots that want the screw's panhead exposed a prescribed amount. Does such a thing exist?

Thanks for the suggestion, but something tells me that wouldn't allow for "negative depth" setting that would leave a screw head partially exposed. Those seem to be used for controlling how far -below- surface level a bit can go, not above.

Thanks Joe, I'll check into it! I -did- have a project that required a lot of hanging screws to be set but it's done now. I'm making a habit of asking myself, after I finish a project, what could I have had on hand to make this task easier? I've added quite a few goodies to my tool bag with that habit.
