I will be having an electrician install a ceiling fan with an integrated LED light to replace an existing ceiling light in my dining room.
I currently have a 2 pole wall switch (see pic) that controls both the existing ceiling light that I will be replacing with the ceiling fan and another ceiling light in my kitchen. The left pole switch in my pic turns on my kitchen light which I would like to keep using one the new fan is up.

My ceiling fan does come with pull chains to turn on both the fan and light and I would prefer just to use the fan pull chains to turn everything on once the new fan is installed as I have a less than 8 foot ceiling height. The new fan pull chains would be easy to reach.

Can I just use my existing 2 pole switch to turn the power on my new fan unit and then use the fan pull chains to turn the fan and light on?

Or would I have to also install a fan wall switch?
I am including pics of my new fan wiring and my existing 2 pole wall switch FYI.

Thank You for your advice

Keep left switch for kitchen light alone.
Right switch will be for new fan/light.

Yes. But as you say, pull chains must be used. Switch will turn on lite (no dimming), fan (on whichever speed was last chosen), both or neither (all depending on last selections by pull chain). Direction of fan will be by physical switch on fan unit. Up draft for winter to pull hot air at ceiling down wall sides or down draft for cooling your skin.

At ceiling: White and black wires for fan. White and blue wires for lite. In your case, on 1 switch, black & blue wires are twisted together.

Here's the thing: If ceiling box was wired with 3 wires (pre-wired in case fan is installed) there may be a black, a white and a red. If there's a third wire (a red or red equivilent), there's also an extra red in the switch box, not being used. Then Black and blue wires are not twisted together. The black and white are for fan and the blue and white are for light.

Now you need 2 switches in switch box, one for fan, one for light.

Probably comes other configs as well, like this:

Then you could replace kitchen light switch to match with this:

But... some fans come with a remote control (you didn't say). Then follow wiring instructions with fan/light. You could then do everything from remote and with one (or no) wall switch. Lights on, off and dimming. Fan on, off all 3 speeds. Reverse fan direction.

Thank You for your very detailed answers and links to HD wall switches!
My fan doesn't come with a remote anyway which is Ok as I prefer just to use the pull chains. I will ask the electrician installer what he thinks once he comes over.
