Good morning appliance gurus!

I recently replaced my electric cooktop. Unfortunately, all the cooktops I could find that covered the hole were too big to fit in the hole. I settled on this model, and reinforced the inside of the hole with 1x3s. The cooktop is well supported and snug, but we've got some 1/8 - 1/4 inch gaps (see pics). GE does make trim kits for this, but I'm not paying $90 for some strips of metal.

Due to the foam gasket, the stove sits about 1/16" above the counter. I'm looking for some thin black metal or plastic that I could cut to fit and slide between the stove and granite. Anybody have any suggestions?

Thanks!
CG

goto the tile isle at home depot and they have strips of metal or plastic bullnose that would fit just under the edge of the cook top and give you a nice rounded finished edge..many color to choose from..they come in like 5 ft lengths..
