I just finished building a pergola in my yard and thought I would share some build pictures of the process for those interested. I have asked some questions pertaining to this pergola over the last several weekends on this site. Thanks for all the help.

We have planted grape vines at each post but I still need to mulch around them and finish up a few odds and ends on the pergola.

One neat thing is I inherited a wood front porch swing that was on the porch of my late grandparents house. I will be putting that under this pergola. After the wood dries out we are going to stain everything.

We are keeping it yard underneath as is. This whole project started out as a simple 2-post clothesline design arbor-like thing for grapes. Probably could have built it for a couple hundred. Then, we went down the whole road of "well, if you're going to go through the trouble of doing that you might as well build a 4 post design structure......and if you do that you might as well add lattice, and decorative cuts, and a swing, and blah blah." You know how it goes.
