Hey I have some random brick, stone, cement in my yard and wondering how to get rid of it. Garbage company won't take it. It's not enough to make it worthwhile for someone to salvage say the brick. And it's not the type of stone you can reuse for landscaping.

It's really just a bunch of sh*t that the previous homeowner left in the yard. I have it all piled up in the backyard and its a major eye sore.

Would appreciate any ideas. Thanks!

Call one of the companies that pick stuff up. Got Junk, Junk It, WM Bag it, etc.. Or rent a dumpster if there's a lot of it.

craigslist under "free stuff" see what happens.
Around here there is a place that takes concrete/cement at no charge but they wouldn't take brick or rocks. They crush the concrete and sell it.

It's already been suggested, but there are places that will take it ,if you haul it to them.

They run it through a HAMMER MILL here to make aggregate for their batch plant to sell to customers as ready-mix.

my area takes all concrete , stone, brick, etc. So call any local concrete delivery service to see what they advise.

thanks everyone! the majority of what i have is brick and stone; concrete being the minority so one of those recycling places wouldnt help much. so sounds like an add on craigslist for free fill is my best route?

how much do you have? What sort of trash pickup do you have. I have managed to throw away some pretty big ticket items by feeding them in to my trash over time. Just toss 3-4 bricks at a time in your trash.

The trash haulers in my area will put it back in the can, along with the bags and tell dispatch reason for refusing pick up. Especially when the guys and gals that drive the trucks, have kids or family members that go to school or work where you work or have kids going to school at.

In my town everything goes in a city supplied cart that is hoisted by hydraulic arms. The guy never gets out of his truck. They do have a video camera and a small TV so he can sort of view what falls out but they are looking for TV's, motor oil, etc. If I tossed the bricks in a garbage bag they would never know. I cut up a queen size matress and box springs once and fed it over time. When I redid a bathroom I tossed all my demo stuff in the trash. That pile sat in my back yard for awhile. I even cut up the fiberglass bathtub and surround in to small enough pieces. It helps that several neighbors all understand that anybody whose can ain't full on pickup day is fair game to get topped off. :vs_karate:

Find out where you can dump that type of stuff (it's free in my area). Go rent one of those HD pickups or bribe a friend (assuming you don't have a truck), load it and get rid of it.

+1 Craigslist. Put an ad out for free item, pick-up only. You'd be surprised.

I got rid of 10 tons of stone out of my backyard doing this. One guy was looking to build a farmers field wall and wanted any old stone. One lady wanted a handful of round stones to put around her tree, she drove half-way across the state to pick up a 5-gallon bucket of "pretty" stones (she was happy, so whatever, more power to her).

Same deal with old brick. Some people are looking for free brick for walkways and such, and will happy to pick up a few at a time.

Concrete - look for an asphalt plant. One near me will take concrete for $10 per load, with no definition of "load". Some places will take it for free.

Some people can't resist FREE STUFF. I'm pretty sure I could put a FREE sign on my trash every week and it would probably disappear. People are weird, remember that.
