You described yourself as pretty handy. Well, I have a good friend who I think the world of, a guy who I first met close to 40 years ago, post college, post 'Nam, and all of that, and we and our families have been close ever since. I share this with you simply to say that it is with nothing less than total respect for him when I say that he is far from pretty handy, and in fact is close to a total klutz when it comes to working with tools; and he would be the first to tell you that. We used to pull together teams for Saturday afternoon football teams, and he was was absolutely awesome on the field, but when it came to home or auto repairs, it just didn't happen unless I or someone else walked him through it. Well, lo and behold, he bought a radial arm saw, and the next thing I know he is going to build a dining room table; AND didn't want any help with it. Yup, he did it all right; no help from me, other than borrowing a few tools once in a while, and probably more than a few questions regarding set up, etc. That was 30 some years ago, and they have since moved into their very nice custom built home, with a beatifully furnished formal dining room, for which the table that he built did not meet the needs of holidays with kids, grandkids, neices, and nephews, but the table that he built remains prominent in their informal dining room where they dine the other 360 some days a year. It is a simple table, but very beautiful. Yeah, you may have to borrow or buy a few tools along the way, and yeah, some may say that you need to start smaller, but take your time, and you can do it. As for plans, I'm not sure where my buddy's came from, but am sure that it will be no problem to find exactly what you want on the 'net. Good luck!
