SO we purchase a double sided fireplace. It turns out to be made for 2x8 wall frame. The current wall is 2x6 frame with drywall double sided.

It's an electric fireplace.

What are my options? Either build out only the fireplace section into 2x8 and redrywall. Or use the current 2x6 wall that is already built. This would leaves an inch on each side (maybe tile around gap or use mdf baseboard)

Thoughts?

Show us a picture of the hole. I am imagining a wall with a hole in it. One side could be flush and the other side could be have a mantle built around it to cover the two inches it sticks out.

One side with mantle

the other side flush

How wide is the wall total?

How wide and tall is the hole in the wall?

If you look at the opening, it fits the fireplace along with maybe 2 inch to spare on the sides. The height fits the fireplace.

The width of the wall total is about 72" wide and the fireplace is 50"

The opening was suppose to make it a flush look. I overlook the 2x8 framing part.

It is goofy, they want 8" and a 2x8 wall would be 8 1/2"

Did you see the notation.

* Deep trim accessory available for 4 1/2" thick wall see "accessories" section of manual.
