I am attempting to remove an old Standadyne spout. This spout is hollow through the majority of its length and appears to be connected at the end. I cannot see or feel a set screw so I assumed it is a screw on spout. I was able to break the spout loose, but it does not screw off after many rotations. In fact, as it turns it vibrates as if there is a set screw.

If it doesn't unscrew after "many rotations", then it must have a set screw. Can't you see one in the slot?

Solution

Spout was very cheap. The plastic shell had broken away from the copper screw on coupler, so the shell was just turning in my hands. I ended up cutting the plastic off to expose the coupler. From there, I could loosen the coupler with help of liquid wrench. Not very elegant, but the job is done. Now to replace it with a better spout.
