Hi,
I have an old Diehl motor that weighs about 125 lbs. The plate says:

5 hp 115 volts at 8 amps
8 hp 230 volts at 4 amps
4 wires coming out – I want to wire to 115 volts and the diagram in the wiring box shows that leads 1 and 2 connect and leads 3 and 4 connect. Am I wrong in presuming that these are essentially the 2 prongs going into the 110 outlet?
Can it really be that you just plug this thing into house current? What about the draw to start the motor? Any help appreciated. Thanks

Your wiring is correct but there is no way a 5 HP motor only draws 8 amps.

8 amps is more like a 1/2 HP motor.

5hp should be about 45 amps.

Looking at the label the hp is 5/8 hp not 5 on 120v and 8 on 230v.

thank you - where might I get a mount for this?
The manufacturer :(

Doubt they are in business. T frame is nema standard, before that there was U frame. Y frame (yours is a 182Y), is a custom frame from the mfr.

You could fabricate one if you know how to weld.
