I am trying to figure out the DFU's for the rough in plumbing for the main vent stack of my second floor addition but I am having a difficult time understanding figuring out the DFU's when grouping up the bedrooms.

a licensed plumber will know what to do....as home owners are not aloud to do plumbing in most municipalities...
I know a plumber can figure it out but I can figure it out as well with a little insight. I thought that's what the purpose of these forums are all about.

I am going to dry fit all of the plumbing, the plumber will glue it all together as we already agreed upon.

knowing dfu wont tell you what fittings and how to configure the plumbing system, so if you have a plumber that will work with you, have him come over and explain and make notes for you on what todo...then you can do it and he can do the glueing and what not...and if you have a plumber already..ask him...hes going tobe responsible for what you do...

Each of your bathrooms should vent with a min 2"
A 3" will vent all three bathrooms when combined.
However, my code requires the cross sectional area of the vents exiting the roof equal the area of the building drain- usually 4". So a little math is needed to insure the vents area equals the building drain area.

EPlumber. Thanks for the info. I am in NY which follows ICC code. The drain pipe existing the basement of the house is 4"

On the second floor, my house has 2 full baths and a clothes washer. The first floor has a full bath and a kitchen sink on the first floor.

The house has an individual roof for each first and send floor where the fixtures are located. I am thinking it will be easier to run a main vent for the second floor fixtures out the roof and a main vent for the first floor fixtures out the roof.

I just want to make sure I have the main vent size for each floor going out the roof to be correct. Would 3" for each floor be adequate?

Thanks,

Pat

I can't say for sure Pat. It would work under UPC.

I suggest you hang on for a bit. Ghostmaker is an inspector that knows IPC real well. He might be on in a bit- he drops in quite frequently
