Hello,

First time poster and wanted to extend a huge thanks for the wealth of information.

I have a detached garage 8-10 feet from the house. I brought a 20 amp circuit for outlets and 15 amp circuit for lighting to the garage from the house panel. By code I need to have a disconnect where the circuits enter the garage. I'm wondering if a 20 amp dual pole switch will suffice or do I need to install a larger 30 amp disconnect?

Thanks again for your help.

You can only take a single feeder or circuit to the outbuilding. If you need two circuits you need a feeder with a panel,or a multiwire branch circuit.

Or I was chatting his ear off and somehow missed it? Looks like I'll be running 12-3 to the garage.

I still have 2 hot wires coming into the garage that need a disconnect. Am I correct in using a 2 pole switch for the disconnect?
