Hello

1. Any good software programs to help design a wood deck? that would be attached to a brick wall (exterior of house).

2. Any good spots or directions that i could read? Learn?

I've used this one before and it's easy to use.
It gets you close but will not let you change the material list for things like through bolting the rim joist, and screws instead of nails for the decking.

But it will give you a footing lay out, framing layout, and a 3D drawing of what it will look like when done.

If it's a single story plan on making it free standing (not attached to the house)
Never have it any closer the 4" of any door openings.
Use 6 X 6's not 4 X 4's.
Do not just attach the the rim joist to the outsides of the post, you need to cut into the sides of the 6 X 6's instead.
Trying to "save" money by under sizing the joist is a very common big mistake.
Though bolt all the rim joist, do not just nail them.
Only use ACQ apprive fastners!
