Deck Safety!

Good to know. I built my deck to the 2012 guidelines, and if my house weren't solid concrete, I'd say the deck is the strongest part! There are several problems with decks. Many are amateur-built, without engineering or inspection. Then, they are continuously exposed to the weather, so even a properly built deck will lose strength over time. Lastly, for some reason decks seem to attract large numbers of rowdy people= BOOM!

consumers are their own worst enemy, they want CHEAP..so the contractor that gives the price for a properly engineered and installed deck is not hired because his price is too high, and the people go with handyman jack that cuts corners and you end up on youtube on a video..
