I had to fix drywall in a closet area but it was too big to get in.
.
I decided to score the back of the drywall then folded over, like a book

I then unfolded inside the closet and screwed it.

Is this okay to do or will the drywall paper eventually rip.

Your fine I do it all the time, as long as you don't wrinkle or tear the paper
