When an LB or sweep just won't work, you adapt, improvise and overcome.

We worked on a house one time , they had a heat pump and the installers had to go around a down spot on the corner of the house. Solution? Cut a perfect sized hole and send the lineset straight through it. 🤦‍♂️

what is the reason forcuuting the wall here?
Stupid abounds all over. My guess is the wires were too short to use any normal sweep or LB, plus the conduit was cut too short, so stupid took over. It looks as if they have chafing protection on the conduit ends, but then ran it through rough concrete block, so it just doesn't make sense.

very interesting.

if you look closer to the right of the picture there is another sweep from horizontal to vertical, and I see bare conductors there also.

Very weird because they spent time anchoring these standoff brackets for the conduits as if they take pride on the work!

Why not just use a 90 degree bend? I find them much easier to pull than an LB. Of course, since I use EMT, I just bend them myself!
I have never seen 90 degree bends on outside corners of a building, it has too big a sweep, ugly and prone to be damaged and then you need to offset the before and after pipe back closer to the walls.

Well, you'd have to drill through the corner (like the wires shown do); maybe that would be too destructive to the building.

Don't know about drilling through the corner but where I am the corner blocks are interlocked with blocks from each wall and cells will have rebars in it and grout filled.

But even if hollow kind of difficult to drill a straight hole then put in a curved elbow.
