I am needing to access a section of my house between floors. Access from the interior isn't possible so I need to remove about 2 to three feet of the band board. Or make a cut to remove the bottom half of that portion of band board at the very minimum. My question is...is this structurally safe to do so. I could then re nail the section in place afterwards and replace siding. Any help on this would be appreciated....thanks.

You should be ok. Just nail every thing good when you reinstall it.

Try to cut halfway on the joists just to be on the safe side. :wink:
