I have a 48" The concrete is about four feet high and the window sits on the concrete wall. I plan to remove the window and have a professional cut out the concrete opening for the door. The siding comes down about a foot below the top of the concrete wall. The question is how big an opening for the door. Being told 41.5 inches to allow for the door framing to be attached the concrete opening on both sides? How do I cover the gap where the brick mold is attached to the siding but not the concrete as the siding is over the concrete?

The opening for the door would be based on the size of the door you would be putting in. The door frame should not be attached to the concrete. You should be installing a wood frame aroung the prehung door. So the rough opening would include the doors requirements and the framing material.
You will remove all the siding around this unit.
After the door is in and the exterior trim is applied, you will reside to the new opening.

Sounds like a 36" door, which has a rough opening of 38.25-38.5" plus 1.5" per side (3" total) for 2x lumber attached to the masonry equals 41.5".

Why not get rid of the brick mold and just use some form of 1x4 or the like?

That will work thanks! The door will be exposed to the outside until a garage addition covers it later this year. It will then be an interior door.

Then you'll need to install a fire rated door.
