I have found a lot of articles on cutting a CMU cross wise but not the long direction. Any advise would be welcome on the correct procedure and tools.
Thanks.
You can put a 7 1/4" diamond blade in a skil saw and cut both sides leaving a small connection in the middle that will break by simply tapping the block.
Very dusty, and it will burn up your saw eventually, but it does work.
I'm not trying to sound smart, but if you have a lot of them, why not just buy the correct width right away? The reason I ask is because we can get a multitude of width, all readily available here 1", 1 5/8", 2 5/8", 3 5/8", 4 5/8", etc.....
Thanks - Never knew odd sizes existed (too much relying on the big box stores) - called a local masonry supplier (Acme Brick) - they have them in stock
I am building a new CMU column that needs to be the same height as an existing wall, if I use a full height CMU for the top row the new column will be 4" to high.
