Smart phones.

In this competative day people want answers right away. You snooze, you loose. Unless they are repeat customers, they will move on until they find somebody willing to give them some time. Even then, they may start phoning around so you better be prompt and not leave your loyal customer feeling frustrated.

Repeat referral is a huge part of any successful venture. But when you are new you have to get your name out there.
Pick a target area and farm it

Got both a cell and an office phone?
I used to use what's called remote call fowarding.
It's set up with the phone company.
If no one ansewers the office phone it switches over to your cell phone.

Yeah that's right.. Trying my best to get my name out there.. It's not that easy.

What experience do you have?

What is your strongest skill?
As an employee, I did everything that has to do with remodeling.

Being on my own, I couldn't get any significant jobs, only the smaller ones.
I got some ideas about how to upscale, but currently I'm sitting in front of my laptop waiting for the phone to ring..

Will take anything I get.

When the doldrums hit me--and they do---I make 'face time'-----there is nothing better to keep your name out there than some 'face time'----

Go see your customers--you say you are new--so that might not take to long--offer to do a simple check up for free----Bathroom caulking---window check (bring a small tarp and whatever is needed to clean the tracks)

What ever it takes---ask if the have any friends in need of a free check up----

Hell,, you would be surprised how welcome you will be if you call and tell them you are changing light bulbs for free----

While there tell them you would like to see any other small jobs that are bothering them---

I've been at this for a long time and always did have the ability to put people at ease----
this makes it easier to sell----
