Hoping you folks have some ideas for a dilemma I've ran into trimming out the kitchen cabinets.

The cabinets sit flush to the ceiling in the back and the ceiling is vaulted at about 10 degrees, leaving just about 2" open in the front. When the crown is installed at the front of the cabinet it's basically flush to ceiling...looks good.

The problem is the side of the cabinets. I cannot figure out a good method to trim out the sides. I've messed around cutting the crown pieces lengthwise basically from zero to 12" at the end. It's really hard to make that cut reliably and looks funky since the crown really isn't crown anymore.

Can anybody think of another way to trim out the sides? Feasibly I could lower the cabinets by a couple inches to leave full crown pieces all the way around but that would be mega work.

Love to hear your ideas!

It's not the front of the cabs that are the issue, the crown fits perfectly in the front. It's the sides that are the buggar. If I taper the crown to fit the ceiling it looks really odd.

There's plenty of room to lower the cabinets and still have the required clearance but I will have to rework the microwave through wall vent which I'm not wild about.

Thought about a filler panel in the gap on the ends then just doing a short return on the crown molding but that would probably look goofy.
