Hi there,

Looking to get some new breakers for an old Crouse-Hinds 200A service panel. I've heard bits and pieces of how this company was bought out years ago, and then their acquirer was also bought out.

Which company/brand of breakers thats available today is compatible with these panels? Panel is Crouse-Hinds catalog #: JA220CS Model E.

Thanks,
JC

It's a bit wild, Crouse-Hinds bought Murray and then Siemens bought Crouse-Hinds and rebranded back to Murray.

Supposedly, Siemens/Murray breakers should drop right in.

But you have to watch it, most 1" breakers will snap into most 1" panels, but the bus stabs don't match properly, causing the kinds of problems that made Federal Pacific and Zinsco so scary-dangerous.

Eaton CL is definitely UL-Classified for Crouse-Hinds. CL (CLassified, get it?) can be a bit hard to find. But do not use Eaton BR or you'll be right back to the Zinsco problem.
