First time poster, asking for some assistance in knowing what to call the "sleeves" that hold the makeshift door in place in these photos.

Basically, I want to extend the "sleeves" upward as I plan on cutting the hole larger to accomodate a 25" high filter (as you can see from the photos, I'm having to bend a 25" to fit, which ends up mangling it).

The installers called for a 20" filter, but that's slightly too short in this setup. I'm wondering if those metal strips have a specific name that I can ask for at my local hardware store.

Also wondering if I should consider some sort of frame on which to rest the filter. I'm having to duct tape the top in place.

Nevermind... after further inspection, it's just sheet metal that's bent, screwed in place, then bent again. So that part, I can handle. Still wondering what my options are for frames, however. Any advice is appreciated.

They are called "Drives" You bend a return hen on the ductwork and "drive" the Drives into place, leaving about an inch overhang on both ends then bending tabs down. The drives are basically sheet metal broken into a tight "C"

looks like s-cleat to me...call it a drive if you want to.....

Those are definitely ess cleats (shaped like an 's'). It's hard to tell from your pictures, but could you put a 4" filter frame in place of the box to the right of the return drop?
