Home built in the early 60s has a few cracks and one major 1" wide unlevel crack going through the center of the garage floor. Not only is it unsightly, but the uneveneness of the floor is causing issues with equipment being moved around and a potential trip hazard. I want to re-pour the concrete and want to know if it will be an issue if it's poured in sections rather than one slab. I have a concrete mixer and experience pouring and finishing concrete I just want to know if there might be any potential building codes or if I would need to pull a permit for this. The foundation will not be disturbed

most likely the crks are the result of the conc jabonies not properly jointing the slab,,, most often any significant cracks will reflect up thru any coating,,, that's often why an unbonded overlay is selected BUT it would also have to be 2"+ thick,,, we'd suggest diamond grinding the floor level, repairing cracks, then overlaying w/proper cementitious material,,, i'm not aware of ANY self-leveling mtl that's suitable for a wearing course,, IF you select the right material, you'l need a jiffy mixer, 5gal bucket, & a TRUE 1/2" drill,,, plan on crks reflecting

i wouldn't think this is ' permitted work ' however i'm not in ca where most often things are evidently different
