I have a 1950's ranch and would like to cover/seal old vinyl flooring. The old flooring is in fairly bad shape. Could plywood be used?
What is the best product to use over whatever is used to seal off old flooring?

Sorry, but as an installer for 40 years, I have seen carpet successfully used in many bathrooms. I personally would not want it, but it is very common.

Thanks for the input ...have to agree that carpet in the bathroom is not something I would choose to do.
I was being sarcastic about the carpet.

I would never install it either.
The PO used carpet to hide the floors amd wall paper to hide the walls in my house.

My personal opinion of your tile job is to peel off the old tile and have a fresh base to lay the new ones. Doing something even a bit half cooked always comes back to bite you.

It's also good to see the condition of the floor boards by removing all the old stuff.
