Hi. I have 6x6 posts that are aluminum capped on the outside and are visible on the inside. I’ve added an inch of xps to the inside face of the post only and intended to cover it up with 1/2*inch plywood on the face and both sides of the xps to give it a beefier post look inside. All the places I’ve searched say it must be covered with a minimum of half inch drywall but these are for whole wall construction. Would the wood be just as safe covering xps? I’ve only read about this being done in attic or crawl spaces?

Thanks

Thanks for your reply, I thought I would have to go much thicker than 1/2". I was eying some maple plywood for the job.

It's a go!
