I am installing pulls onto a vanity. The pulls are threaded on the back and come with #8 machine screws (pan head). I would like the screw heads to be recessed into the wood. Should I counterbore or counterbore with a countersink and use some countersink screws? If I counterbore, is a Forstner bit what I should use? Which is easier or better? Any advice is appreciated. Thanks.

since you're being anal about the screws being recessed inside a draw, why not use flat head machine threaded screws and counter sink them flush with the finished surface. Use the correct counter sink bit and you will get a perfect flush fit.
