If the corner was framed correctly (i.e. corner post and not just a stud), there would be ample nailing on both sides. You should still be able to hit the stud by angling your nails back slightly UNLESS you're adding a second layer of drywall. GBAR's recommendation for paper bead will solve your problem and actually is a better system overall. Way less problems with it "popping" loose later on down the line. I've used it for a while and would recommend it....
