I am ready to install a new kitchen cabinet but the 2" diameter copper sink waste line coming from the wall has a 'y' fitting on the end of it. I'm not really wanting to cut a hole in the back of the cabinets that is large enough to fit over the 'y' fitting.
Once countertops are installed we plan to have a professional plumber come back in and install the water lines and hook the waste lines back up.
Question is: What would be the best method for removing this fitting prior to installing the cabinet? 1.) Sawzall and cut it right at the edge of the fitting? 2.) Heat and use channel locks to loosen the fitting? 3.) Something else I hadn't thought of?
There is approximately 2.25" of pipe extending from the wall before the fitting. Once the cabinets are installed the will encompass 0.75". Is 1.5" of pipe protruding from the back of the cabinet sufficient for a plumber to connect a waste line?
Any assistance is greatly appreciated! Thank you in advance for your help!
