OK I guess I should have asked this also, is there any drawback to making versus store bought?

The additional drawbacks are labor and additional joint to solder and test for leaks. Some plumbers still refuse to buy preformed stubs or brackets due to additional costs yet they fail to realize potential labor savings, so they continue to field fabricate. Ream the pipe ends and properly solder and you'll be fine :thumbsup:
