convert a bathtub/shower combo vavle to shower only?

Hi,

I was wondering if someone might have some input on what i'm thining of doing.

I got a shower/bathtub combo fixture set we like for one bathroom. Our 2nd bathroom is a shower only.

I have not ben able to find a matching shower only set so i was thinking of buying the same set and sweating a down tube (about 6" and a cap) where the tub faucet usually is. effectively permanently closing off the downward flow.

The set has the diverter built into the bathtub faucet head so i'm thinking this should be okay.

Does anyone know if this is okay to do? thoughts greatly appreciated!

shouldn't be a problem at all. After all, a tub spout diverter is effectively nothing but a stop at the end of the pipe that fills the tub, which backs up that pipe so that the water is forced out of the other end that goes to the shower head...which is the same thing you'd be doing, but on a permanent basis. Go for it!
