I have a plain-jane $7 continuity tester that I use when doing residential electrical work to see where wires go and such. When I find continuity, the tester shows a nice bright light, which is normal. But I recently had a situation where it showed a dim light across a connection that was not of continuity. Not a bright light showing full continuity, but a dimmer light, probably about half as dim as normal. What could be causing this?
