Well, my 1969 house needed a sliding glass door. I took out the large window and cut out the bottom, fitting in the slider. All nice. But I had to remove one outlet from the wall right where the door now is. I just want to connect the two ends of the flex cable and wires. There is power coming from the left cable end. I connected the three wires, red, white and black, and nothing. Disconnected and now no power. The circuit breaker works, controls an outlet in a nearby bathroom, but nothing happening now in the old cable ends. Any thoughts? Thanks.

Doesn't make sense. First you said nothing when connected then you said no power if disconnected, so there must have been something.

How many cables in the box? How many wires in each cable? Was the receptacle controlled by a switch? Is the bathroom receptacle a GFCI? Is it tripped?

I am not understanding how you plan to join the wires. They MUST be in an accessible jumction box, unless you are using the new, listed, butt splice contraptions. Since your old receptacle is where the door is now located, that will be where your connection will be. Rather than having this setup can you run a new wire? Safety shoild vome first.
