I had a leak in my bedroom ceiling b/c condensation pipe was clogged and it did no leak into the pan below it. Instead it leaked out of the EZ Trap opening that did not have switch installed; at least that is what I think.


How should I go about fixing this issue? Seal the second opening or install the switch or something else?

Regular maintenance would be best.

Your drain is clogged, or running slow. fix the drain, and then pipe that vent over so if it leaks again, it runs into the drain pan.

Put a coupling on the pipe and extend it up another 6". That won't keep it from clogging but will force the water to go into the secondary pan where a float switch should shut the unit down.

I have fixed the drain, and I have installed the 3/4 plug on it EZ Trap opening (temporary fix). I did not glue it or anything like that.

Is it better to extend the pipe where the "EZ Trap opening" is, move it or will plug will work. Thank you.

LOL that's what it looks like. Bob it's mold and fungus from the water and dirt in the air.

Some dirt always passes through the air filter, even the higher MERVs, it washes down from the coil, and collects in the trap.

Correct. In that case get rid of the p-trap and vent Tee and install a real EZ trap with safety float.
