I have a room with an old concrete floor. We used a carbit buffer to remove glue. You can't feel it. I had a concrete guy lay some vinyl cement in some low areas. It looked good but then it did not bond to existing concrete. He has removed what he poured and dosn't want to risk material & time to try again. So I am also concerned about the paint or stain adhearing. Any cleaning suggestions that arn't crazy involved. This is rental property can't spend a lot of $.

The first thing to do is to get a "concrete guy" that knows what he is doing.

old glue on concrete

I did get a concrete guy that has been doing concrete all his life & he's old. Thought he did know what he was doing and I've seen other work he's done. I just want to get the floor ready for exercise dance classes, with as little cost as possible.

This is just a guess as I am far from a concrete guy but I wonder if when you used the buffer to remove the old glue you also polished the surface to the point where the adhesive won't bond? Is the concrete shiny at all? You may need to rent something to give the surface some texture for the glue to bond to. There may be a different type of glue to use that may work better also.

Trouble floor

The carbit buffer has made the concrete somewhat shinny. I may have found a product from Porter paints it's called Prep500101. Expensive but it's especially designed for removing glue residue so we will see.

My husband and I just removed old carpet and some of the glue was still tacky,anyways we did the hot water, a sander then I got my shark steamer and it worked. Did not take all layer off at once, but it broke it down enough to scrape in the thick sections and then put down some fine sand to absorb the tacky glue so it dried it out and made it much easier to then use a sander and it was gone. I also used baking soda on the tacky areato help dry and made it better to sand it away
