Concrete slab repair

402 Views 2 Replies 3 Participants Last post by  Nealtw
I am having my foundation leveled and after raising one side some of the interior walls have raised up off of the slab about an inch or two. Is this normal? They haven't raised the other side yet so I'm not sure if that will correct it. I'm freaking out a bit.

Ayuh,...... Sorta, probably,..... It took years for the settlement to happen, 'n it'll take longer than you think for it to settle back down to it's new home,......

I leveled the foundation in this 100 year old house some years back,.....
It had a 5" hump in the center of a 26' run,......

When I lowered the house down onto the new level foundation, I still had 5" from the concrete, to the sill plate,.....
It took 5 years, before I could no longer slip a dollar bill between the concrete, 'n sill plate,.....
That's when I bolted the sill plate to the concrete,.....
Yes if the lift the bearing walls one inch, all the non bearing walls will be one inch short.
You may need to shim those walls up or perhaps the slab has also sunk and should be foam jacked up to level.
