purchased my home late 2012 ~ this past Sept 2015 had septic emptied ~ the guys had a difficult time getting the concrete cap off the liquid side of tank ~ they beat the hell out of it for hours ~ finally got it (I did not go out to see) ~ I paid them, even tipped them to get lunch...

Here's my problem ~ once we started getting heavy rains I could not flush toilets ~ we called them and they beat around the bush saying it was just more rain than usual ~ since I've lived here we have had monsoons over the years and I never had an issue flushing ~ so yesterday I dug up where the cap is and damn if they didn't chunk off the concrete on one side of cap ~ we can clearly see into septic on one side of cap ~ even looks like they chunked off concrete on the same side of cap on the tank...

What can I do to make a new seal for the cap? Septic service refuses to do anything because they don't believe they did anything wrong ... HELP! It's going to rain again soon... Of course it's full of water..

You could install a septic riser to bring the lid to the surface.

That's great but how does it stop ground water from still seeping under the riser? I'm a widow have no problem fixing things and digging up what needs done but my woman brain can't comprehend how water will not go under the riser. Can you explain?

You need to seal it when you bolt it down. There's many different ways. The manufacturer of the riser probably has a recommended way. It will probably be different between the plastic and the concrete versions.

Ayuh,... That varies with whichever riser ya use,....

The concrete rim type, you can grout it in when settin' it,...

The plastic could be grouted, or use some other tube glue,...

How deep down is the cap, from finish grade,..??
How big a hole did ya dig, diameter wise,..??

Dependin' of the size of the hole, just puttin' an ole big truck mudflap over it, 'n fillin' yer hole back up, mountin' the area slightly, can be a quick fix,...

That'll stop water soakin' through the ground from above,....
If the water table is higher than the top of the tank, it'll slow but not stop the water,...

It's approximately 16-18" deep - I took a pic when I dug it out but didn't take a pic after cleaning it up and removing concrete cap ~ covered back up with dirt because it's raining/snowing here today in north Texas

To the right of cap when I cleaned it all out I could see into tank about 3/4" gap
