Hello there. I have a concrete pation on brick. I wanted to cover in composite decking. I wanted to cut off the rod iron railing amd replace with wood 4x4 then viynl railing. I was also gonna put down spacers and sleepers before the decking.

Wanted to get some thoughts on this.

Also, could I cover the brick with white composite board or does it need to have some air flow?

Thanks

No steps - about 7 to 8 inches

The biggest problem is air flow with the newer treated lumber. You would want to set it on hockey pucks or something and over hang it a few inches for a little air flow And protect the top of the framing.

I would just pile some gravel up against the bottom of the brick and put a paint grade skirt around it and the brick would be out of sight.
