The combustion air fan on my furnace has jammed up. When I put the heat on, an electric hum is all I get until I go to the furnace and spin the fan shaft with my hand to get it going. Then the furnace works as normal.

Is it worth cleaning the fan, or should I just replace it?

When I tried to take it off, there were three obvious screws that I unscrewed, but the fan, though very loose, did not come out. Is there a trick to it?

As I'm not much of a DIYer, I'm also wondering if this is the kind of job I should attemp. Maybe get a pro?

My furnace is a Lennox G50UH 24A-070-03

Thanks...

I would get a Lennox tech to do it. Quite complicated with 2 gaskets to hold in place and the replacement is a retrofit and needs a different pressure switch with it. Fan and motor come as a unit.

Combustion fan noisy - Lubrication?

The combustion chamber fan just started making noise. Sounds like a bearing is failing or needs lubrication.

Do I need a new fan assembly or can I remove it and lubricate it?

has sealed bearings so you need a new unit.
