Hi all,

We live in Oregon, which has horribly unhealthy air quality from smoke due to devastating forest fires nearby. I would like to filter our indoor air some without running heat. How can I turn off or unplug the heating elements to run air through the filter without heating up our house?

We have an electric furnace Coleman Evcon Model number EB12A.

I have enough handyman experience to change parts on our furnace but not enough to diagnose electrical problems beyond finding shorted wires.

Than you!

Does your unit have a blower on switch?
Most hvac equipment isn’t designed to be used as indoor air cleaning equipment, the filter is only there to protect the equipment.

Thank you for the response! After reviewing the wiring diagram, it appears that the switch in there is just for the fan. I appreciate the warning, too, about its designed usage. The air quality index, however, has been between 300-500, so even running some of our air through the filter will be a worthy breath of fresh air. Thanks again!
