We recently had granite countertops installed in our kitchen with a new stainless steel undermount sink. The installer did a great job with everything but I have noticed that there is a definitely a line along the top "rim" of the sink where it approaches the countertop. It's pretty obvious that it's where they glued the sink then wiped off the excess with a thumb... Somewhat of a faint residue of silicone. Now I know most people would say just to ignore it but when you spend so much money on a kitchen renovation and a $350 sink it's really hard to ignore. Anybody have any ideas of a solution that will remove it. I obviously don't want to screw up the finish.

Thanks!

If its regular silicone, which I'm sure it is, the easiest way is to tale the heel of your palm and rub back and forth until it comes off. If that proves too difficult mineral spirits are gentle enough to not harm the finish on your sink.

as ftf tom mentions, use a dry finger and try and roll the sillycone off. a sharp razor knife used to cut the sillycone near the sink edge helps to not undermine while rolling with your finger. just cut downward onto the counter top face around the edge of the sink, when you roll the sillycone should not try and pull out any further than your knife cut...
