I've used a current clamp to determine which breaker controls a circuit that I want to de-energize without killing anything I want to keep hot. Rob

You connect a lamp or light socket to the circuit you want to trace, and you use a 100W bulb and one of these flasher inserts to make the bulb flash: http://www.cooperindustries.com/con...es/socket_buttons_1008_472t_125_472b_125.html Your clamp meter will then show that circuit's current draw pulsing at a steady rate, allowing you to identify the correct circuit.
