I live next door to a couple that smokes heavily and some days the smoke smell leaks into my house. I have talked to the landlord about it but when the handyman shows up the next day the smell is no more. So my landlord now thinks I'm crazy and I have been living with this for a year. Is there anything I can do paint, clean, anything in my apartment to fix this?

There isnt much you can do to elimate the smell that comes in probably through the AC or heating system. Sherwin Williams has a paint called Harmony and it has odor reducing properties to it which should help eliminate the smell faster but it won't stop everything.
