I need a saw to cut some 1.5" x 1.5" x 1/8" aluminum angle. I thought I was just going to use a grinder but it turns out to be pretty hard to make square cuts with that tool.
I see two DeWalt saws, D28715 and D28710. They seem to be very similar with the "15" having more power and some convenience features. The price difference is negligible, $199 vs $179.
My friend suggested I buy a mitre saw (which I want anyway) and use that to cut the metal instead of buying one of these chop saws. Is that a bad idea? I figured the chop saw might be specially designed so it is not damaged by metal shavings, and cutting a bunch of aluminum or steel with a saw intended for woodworking could tear it up. True?
Thanks
