Hey everyone! Glad to be a part of the DIY forum. I've got a question about properly flashing a chimney that sits right next to a valley. I recently purchased this home and I'm getting some water penetration and its ruining sheetrock and causing mold growth. I've attached 2 pictures. Can anyone tell me what I need to add or do I need to reorder how the materials are placed on top of each other? Obviously the lower portion needs to be fastened to the roof and have some sealant put over the nails. I think its a pretty poor location for a chimney, but I'm not a builder and I'm sure there's a proper way to do it. Any help is appreciated!

Your right that was not a great place to install that chimney.
I'd be getting rid of that whole monstrosity and installing a normal roof boot.
Rip up all the valley shingles and see how it was done.
That lower area is the least of your issues.
