Changing switch for lights in basement, confused on current wiring.

Problem: Light switch by the stairs controls one small light in the basement, the two primary lights are controlled by two switches on the other side of the room. So, when I go downstairs I have to walk across the dark room to turn on the lights and it's a pain when I forget going upstairs and I have to go all the way back over.

Solution: Re-wire the other two lights to the same switch so all three lights turn on with the switch by the stairs.

Issue 1: The two lights I want to control are shop lights and they have two wires going into them, I'm confused on why this is needed. I've tried to show this in the photo; this is one of the lights and the black wire is coming from the current switch and the wire wire goes to a junction box that splits off to the other light and to some other light in the other room(as far as I traced it). So, does the power from the switch not provide enough for these lights so there is another source?

Would it just work to disconnect the black wire going to the current switch and connect it up to the new switch pigtailed?

It's not about enough power, it's about circuitry.

Not nearly enough info. The black wire could be going TO the switch instead of coming from it. The white cable may be the "power".

You have a typical homeowner mess on your hands. To solve it via the internet will require you taking apart all switches, jboxes and fixtures involved and describing the wiring or posting photos.
okay, I did some digging and figured out what's going on now I need suggestions on how to re-wire it. The red is what I want to keep, I want the two three-way switches to control the two lights; the currently only control the one. I want the light on the bottom to be controlled by it's only switch which it currently is.
