Changing out from door threshold thingie

I’m sure there’s an arcane technical name for this bare board under the threshold of my front door.

I think I should pull and replace.

Any thoughts on method process etc?

Amazon has 6" wide metal threshold. If the wood is not rotten, covering up is an option.

It turns out that the front door and frame were pre-hung; my handy helper suggested redoing the entire sad-looking door frame and maybe replacing the door. So that's what we'll do.
