I screwed up and installed this replacement tile that is darker from the others. Before I go through the work of getting it out, find another replacement tile that matches the color of the rest, I was wondering if there was a way to fade-out the color of the tile. Some type of bleach? acid? I'm thinking it would be easier to darken the others but my wife wants the lighter color. Thanks for any ideas

No there is no way to do it. Regardless if it is ceramic or porcelain, you are going to end up making it look like worn down tile and it will absorb anything that touches it.
