I would like to install a floor medallion in the center of our large circular foyer. Checking prices on the internet was a real shock! What I found was your average floor medallion is made from stone (usually emperador marble) and the design is "water jet" cut. The prices vary quite a bit, but even for just a 48" medallion, they want more than $1,000. Some of them cost about $2,000. These things are very pricey! Shipping a medallion here to the Philippines would also add a couple of hundred dollars to the price.
Well folks ... I just found what I think is a good deal on floor medallion here in the Philippines. Instead of being made from marble, this medallion is made from ceramic tile.
I just took a photo of a medallion they are selling for 6,000 pesos ($125) at a hardware store here. It measures 39" x 39" and the tile thickness is the same as the 16" ceramic tiles that are now installed in my house. They have 3 different designs to choose from.
This medallion is one-piece, so I don't have to put it together.
Now I need to find out how much my installer will charge me to cut out a section of my original 16" tiles in the foyer and install this medallion.
Hopefully that will cost me no more than about 1,000 pesos ($21)
Ron,
Sorry, the photo is not super clear, but it was a little dark in the store when I took this photo, and I had to use a flash. In person, this medallion really does look very nice.
