I have to use the central air in summer constantly because the 100 plus degrees everyday. I have installed a window a/c 15000 btu, 15 amps. The question is if I would be overloading the system in the house using both at the same time. The purpose of both working would be using less the central unit that takes so much power to operate. Thank you for any answers..As you can see, I don't know anything about electricity. Thank you again.

I don't think that would overload a modern electrical service which would be at least 100 amps capacity. How you would save energy by running both I don't understand. Just not enough information supplied. Depending on the SEER ratings of the respective units, it might or might not be advantageous.

Newer central AC and heat systems are quite efficient. Whats the ser rating of your central system. If you need the extra cooling power go for it. I have a room that gets pretty warm (I am sitting in it right now) even though the rest of the house is nice and cool. First I will double check my insulation, then install an automatic gable fan on my end. If that does not do it, a window type AC will be installed. I also plan to put a big one in my unfinished basement.
