Hi All,

Had a new AC installed last spring. it worked fine all last summer. for the Past week, it has been having a funny thing happen (And the contractor we used and had a warranty through is now out of business). So the furnace fan fires correctly, air is pushed through the vents, but the outside unit does not turn on. I found the only way to get it to engage is to pull the bar out of the service disconnect, and push it back in. Within a few seconds the outdoor unit/Compressor/fan kicks on. it then runs as expected until it is off for a while (such as overnight when the temp drops(doesn't kick in for a while) and then the outside unit does not kick in any longer until I do the service disconnect thing. Any ideas?

Thanks,

-Matt

Have a tech look at this.
Have the disconnect box checked - where the bar makes a contact and the wiring.
Also, your compressor may have hard starting and you may need a relay/capacitor hard start.
A few summers ago I had a disconnect box where one wire contact was fried. I replaced the box and that wire, and the A/C came on.
